Brooklyn Bridge

Confession time: Sometimes I get a bit obsessive about things...!

Now if you're going to get obsessive about something it should have style, presence or beauty to it. It should have a certain sense of magnificence in a "I'm just doing my job" kind of way.

Every time I see pictures of New York in my head - I visualise looking through the arches of the pillars of the bridge.

So I wanted to walk the Brooklyn Bridge - and I wanted to photograph the Brooklyn Bridge.

So I have to confess that 195 photos of one bridge is probably going over the top. The problem (in a good way) was that every footstep gave a different perspective - so we had to capture EVERY perspective.

And then the  poignant bit..... Stopping for a break in our walk at the first pillar on the way across, we took the opportunity to look at (and photograph) the views from this terrific perspective - only to look down and realise (due to the explanatory brass plate identifying what we were drawn to) - that we were staring at the space - the void - the vacuum....where the Twin Towers had filled that visual gap just ten years earlier.

Stopped me in my tracks for a short while that.
