Burscough

Burscough is a large village in West Lancashire north of Ormskirk, through which the arterial A59 road passes. The village owes much of its current existence to the Leeds Liverpool Canal that passes through.

The history of the village dates back to Viking origins. The current village emerged from two smaller villages: Burscough and Burscough Bridge.

Burscough Priory, founded in 1186, still has minor remains left behind, following its dissolution in 1536 due to Henry VIII.

This was where the family grew up. We lived here for 24 years.
