Colleville Montgomery
An interesting place to visit. Perhaps the "easiest" beach to clear on D Day (a relative term indeed.)
Colleville to Ouistreham formed the Sword Beach dominated by British Troops. The town also has a relic of the Atlantic Wall, now a Normandy Museum.
The beach is relatively short and shallow but was very well defended resulting in numerous casualties. Its interesting, nevertheless, to compare with the long, soft sands of Omaha Beach, especially just below the US Cemetery which must have been outrageously difficult to conquer.
